We are a grassroots and voluntary transformative justice (TJ) collective with members around England, and one member in Belgium. We are looking for highly committed men to join our small but strong collective.
We are trans inclusive and want people to join whether they are cis men, trans men, or people whose gender can’t be articulated within a binary but who have experience of masculinity and feel this would be useful for working with men to transform their patriarchy.
We need men who can remain fully accountable to a collective that is currently led mainly by women, with a feminist, intersectional and ever evolving understanding of patriarchy. Our work includes holding men accountable for harm they have caused, while supporting them to unlearn patriarchal behaviours and understandings so that harmful behaviours are not repeated.
Once an accountability process begins, it is vital the work is sustained. Therefore, once you have been integrated into our group, you will need to commit to being there for the long haul, and to stay with any accountability process until it is concluded.
You will need to be honest with yourself and the collective about parts of yourself you might feel uncomfortable about, and to support other men in doing the same.
We believe in transformation and are led by an understanding that we are all socialised into patriarchy (and other intersecting systems of oppression) in a bunch of different ways. None of us have fully unlearned these or are able to step entirely outside of these patterns, and we are not expecting perfection, although we are collectively working towards challenging the patriarchy within each of us. We need one or two men to join us and to commit to working with us towards dismantling patriarchy in big and little ways, building stronger and more accountable communities and social movements, while working in solidarity with women, oppressed genders and survivors of abuse and assault.
